PIL contributes to the education of a new generation of global leaders
In addition to our evaluation and research work, we have established a longstanding collaboration with the European Parliament office in Lithuania to support the implementation of the European Parliament Ambassador School Programme (EPAS) in the country. EPAS is a network of secondary and vocational schools across the European Union aimed at raising awareness of European parliamentary democracy and promoting European citizenship values. The primary objective of this program is to foster students' interest in the European Union and familiarize them with the work carried out by the European Parliament. Our goal is to provide them with a broader perspective on global and national challenges from the EU level.
Within the framework of this project, our activities cover a wide range of areas. We develop teaching and learning materials, create a monthly newsletter suggesting ways to incorporate ongoing EU-related issues into the teaching process, organize workshops for teachers, communicate project activities, and evaluate the participation of each school. Since we are accustomed to collaborating with international partners, it is both fascinating and rewarding for us to work in Lithuania, specifically with Lithuanian schools, and strive to communicate EU and global-level matters to the local audience.
Engaging with teachers and students is an integral part of this project. It requires us to step away from our desks and computers and actively interact with educators and learners. We constantly learn and refine our approach to effectively communicate complex topics in an accessible manner. We engage in discussions with teachers on how to transform political and economic events into valuable learning opportunities in the classroom.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this project is observing the development of a new generation of individuals who will become future policy makers, implementers, analysts, and active European citizens!
