Background
Vaidotas is an experienced educator and professional with a Bachelor's degree in History and a Master's degree in Political Science, further complemented by post-graduate qualifications in Pedagogy and Economics. He primarily teaches Economics to senior International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme students and currently works at the KAUST School in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Prior to this, he spent seven years at Vilnius International School, where he taught the Cambridge Assessment curriculum. Vaidotas also serves as a team leader examiner for Cambridge Assessment International Education and acts as the national coordinator for Lithuania for the International and Baltic Sea Region Model European Parliament, where he is responsible for selecting and training youth for international conferences.
impact
Vaidotas was selected to work with the global initiative Teach for Allas a citizenship education teacher in a school serving the Russian national community. This role played a critical part in supporting integration and countering susceptibility to information warfare—a challenge affecting many such communities across Eastern and Central Europe. He also participated in the nationally recognized project Mission Siberia 2016—an expedition to former deportation sites in northern Siberia. Upon returning, he actively shared his experiences throughout Lithuania, fostering civic engagement among the younger generation.
Vaidotas has contributed to curriculum innovation, notably by designing a phenomena-based program for a private school, integrating national curriculum standards with progressive pedagogical methods. His expertise has been acknowledged by regional academic institutions, including Vilnius University, Presidential administration of Lithuania, and through his work on the IWitness project, led by the University of Southern California, which brings Holocaust survivor testimonies into classrooms worldwide.
Additionally, he has managed several educational initiatives for the European Parliament Ambassador Schools (EPAS), including developing monthly newsletters, training educators, and evaluating school performance. He has also collaborated with Lithuania’s Ministry of Education and Sports on projects related to national curriculum development, assessment criteria, and teacher workshops.
Despite his broad range of achievements, Vaidotas takes the most pride in his role as a homeroom teacher from 2017 to 2024—a role he describes as the most meaningful, having nurtured an entire generation of students.
