The Humanity & Inclusion - HI-run HELASIA project is focused on generating conclusive experience and change in the quality of life of people with disabilities by demonstrating the interaction and interdependence between advocacy for people with disabilities’ rights and practical efforts in supporting them obtain access to quality, inclusive services.The PIL team including Lara Bezzina, Rugilė Trumpytė, Elma Paulauskaitė and Elsa Perreau through a participatory engagement process with HI field offices, project partners and stakeholders in five countries including government, federations and Organisations of Disabled Persons (ODPs) developed an accountability toolkit and framework for HI country teams, OPDs and Federations of OPDs in Benin, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Mozambique and Rwanda and regional actors working on the NORAD-funded Health, Education, Livelihood in Africa: a Sustainable Inclusion Approach (HELASIA) Project implemented by Humanity & Inclusion. The resulting toolkit, monitoring framework and guidance included Easy to Read versions and supported introduction of accountability monitoring beyond the HELASIA project at HI.
