EASPD promotes the views of over 20,000 social services and their umbrella associations to promote equal opportunities for people with disabilities through effective and high-quality service systems. The PIL team including Elma Paulauskaitė, Andrius Tursa and Lara Bezzina conducted a EASPD-commissioned study on future disability workforce needs drawing on first of all desk research to identify challenges and needs of service providers in relation to the workforce they need to fulfil their missions, and a survey of and follow-up interviews with EASPD members. The online survey was filled out by 30 service providers of various sizes from 17 European countries representing eight social care sectors. The study addressed both a past-looking perspective on challenges faced by and needs of service providers in relation to recruiting and maintaining qualified disability care staff, as well as a forward-looking one to gauge hiring intentions and most pressing training needs. In addition to the study report, the PIL team in collaboration with designer Aistė Dargužaitė developed a summary infographic on the main findings.
